I love Brianna McCarthy’s work. I’m most impressed by the fact that she is self-trained. As I mentioned in a previous post, there are some artists I’ve been watching for a while simply waiting for an opportunity to purchase. Brianna’s work is at the top of my list. She’s a young women living in Trinidad and Tobago. In addition to painting she makes masks, collages, and dolls. Recently she collaborated with Vagabroad Journals and I missed it!!!! I’m still sour about it. I kept watching to see when the journals would go on sale and by the time I clicked, they were all sold out. (Insert sad face here.) Look at how pretty they were:
I recently learned that Brianna will be releasing post cards and I CAN NOT WAIT. I want them so badly! I’m so excited that I am actually tickled. TICKLED.
And you know what else Dumplin? Procrastination is the thief of opportunity. Brianna used to have a link on her website where you could shop for available pieces. I would check back from time to time but I wasn’t in love with what was available so I didn’t buy anything. I was determined to have particular pieces. Now, I wish I hadn’t delayed. I wish I had bought a piece to start my collection of her work. She’s more famous now, and I anticipate it will be harder to get an original piece of her work. But I’m not giving up! If there is something you really want in life baby, go after it! You don’t want to miss the opportunity.
Take a look at some of her work below.
And my absolute favorites:
Do you find Brianna McCarthy’s art as beautiful as I do?
