Will What You Want

Dear Dumplin,

The media certainly seems to be paying more attention to women these days.  While reading Why She Buys by Bridget Brennan I learned that women buy 65% of all apparel purchases.  No wonder Under Armour has pegged Misty Copeland, the first African-American female soloist for the American Ballet Theater as the lead of their new women’s ad campaign.

Ms. Copeland is an example of perserverance and dedication.  Sometimes, you just can’t listen when people tell you no.  People don’t always know what they are talking about.  Nobody can see into the future.  I’m learning that change really scares people although it is necessary sometimes.  The familiar can be comforting even if it is boring and lifeless.  I love what Misty Copeland represents because she’s everything that a traditional ballerina was not supposed to be.  She’s a womanly, mature, muscular, feminine, sexy, and talented ballerina.  She epitomizes melinated beauty, physical fitness, dance, perserverance, and authenticy all in one.

Remember, Will What You Want.  Misty did.

Love,

Mama
